Trend research firm Oricon DD has conducted a survey about coffee consumption targetting 1,280 men and women in 20's and 30's, to know "which is the most popular coffee", among chain retailers of coffee and first food.
Five majors were targetted this time; "Starbucks", "Doutor" (ドトール), "Mc. Donald's", "Moss Burger" (モスバーガー) and "Mr. Donut" (ミスタードーナツ). Six taste criteria such as "aroma", "bitter tang", "sourness", "finish", "dark hue", "overall balance", plus "purchase intention" are evaluated by examinees.
As a result of the survey, the 1st prize went to "Mc. Donald's". While the account of their taste and aroma marked as high as other retailers, the price remain very low with 100 yen only. The 2nd is Dourtor with their balance of overall taste, even adding milk and sugar. Moss Burger came on the 3rd place with their popular blend coffee and charcoal dripped iced coffee. Interestingly, "Starbucks" remained at the 4th with "purchase intention" dragged down their overall tast marked the top most. Finally, "Mr. Donut" seems popular with their buttomless blend coffee and cafe latte.
